City Road Therapy – Professional face-to-face & online Therapy in London

Jane Dixon

I am an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor, BACP accredited. I will work collaboratively with you, exploring whatever is difficult in your life. I bring a warmth and openness to my work with very diverse clients. Engaging in psychotherapy or counselling can be a challenging but very rewarding process, undertaken for many different reasons, and I respect the courage it takes to talk about what is perhaps painful or hard to put into words.

Integrative counselling and psychotherapy with Jane

As an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor I am trained to draw upon a number of theoretical and relational approaches to meet the needs of each client. Humanistic and psychodynamic perspectives are present in my practice but it is the down to earth, collaborative inquiry of existential psychotherapy which forms the core of my work with clients.

Existential psychotherapy holds you as an individual at the centre of the work and can help you find meaning within the complex experiences of your life. This new perspective can bring insight into how you respond to different experiences, and a greater sense of choice where perhaps none seemed available. Our conversations would enable you to reflect on your own values, responsibilities and fears. I would seek to meet you where you are in your life (whether that’s perhaps a place of frustration, sadness, fear or just not where you expected to be) and build on your resources to support you in meeting the challenges you face.

Therapy sessions provide a different kind of emotional and reflective space from that which is found in daily life: it is a space where thoughts and feelings can be explored without judgement or needing to meet the expectations of others. The relationship between therapist and client is significant, being very different from speaking with family or friends, and it forms a dynamic and important element in the therapy itself.

I am experienced in both in-person and remote ways of working and have chosen to make my current practice entirely via telephone.  Although this is a different experience from in-person sessions (for both therapist and client) or from online with video, audio-only work allows for an intimacy and depth of conversation whilst also enabling a sense of freedom and safety to voice difficult feelings.  Working in this way enables a strong therapeutic alliance to be built, no less so than in face-to-face sessions.

I can work with you in long-term or open-ended therapy which would allow us to address wide ranging issues from your life, gain deeper understanding of past and present experience, and give time to integrate this new perspective into your life. However, I also offer shorter-term work which focuses perhaps on a particular issue you are challenged by either currently or from the past.

If you think that therapy might be helpful for you and you have questions about availability or would like further information about sessions via telephone, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via email or phone.
