I am a counselling psychologist offering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I aim to provide a safe and non-judgemental space for you to talk through your difficulties and will tailor treatment to best suit your needs. I work collaboratively with you to understand your goals and find creative and evidence-based ways to overcome whatever you might be struggling with, supporting you in making the changes you want to make. I focus on providing practical skills and tools and believe that an important first step in the process of therapy is acknowledging the inevitability of human distress, and understanding the ways in which resistance to unpleasant or uncomfortable emotions can keep us feeling stuck.
I am accredited by the HCPC and the British Psychological Society (BPS).
I am registered with BUPA, AXA, Aviva, Vitality and WPA.
Cognitive behavioural therapy with Josephine
As an integrative psychologist I am trained in several different therapeutic approaches. While I predominantly offer cognitive behavioural therapies, which are typically more skills-based and solution-focused, I also draw from other approaches where these feel helpful, depending on your individual needs. CBT can be helpful in addressing a number of different issues, and is often recommended for individuals suffering from anxiety, low-mood or other mood-related difficulties. CBT can help you identify the triggers for your current distress and highlight the unhelpful thoughts, thinking habits and behaviours which may be keeping the problem going, informing the new responses we will work on together to break the ‘vicious cycles’ keeping you stuck.
I offer time-limited therapy which may be more focused on a specific goal or problem (CBT) or more open-ended therapy which may incorporate elements of CBT as well as elements of other approaches, allowing for a more in-depth exploration of your current difficulties and their origins. I offer a free initial phone call or video call to discuss your specific goals and needs, and answer any questions you might have before starting therapy.
