City Road Therapy – Professional face-to-face & online Therapy in London

Mel McGrath

My name is Mel and I am an experienced counsellor trained in psychosynthesis which means I work with people to help them understand more about their life and how to manage difficult feelings and experiences.

I am a warm and empathic person with wide experience in supporting people with their emotional journey, looking to guide them toward a greater understanding of the issues faced in a safe and non-judgmental environment. My way of working is both authentic and kind, encouraging people to speak freely with a good sense of humour for those lighter moments.

Psychosynthesis therapy with Mel

You may have experienced trauma, have anxiety, be struggling with more existential questions about the climate or the future, whatever it is you bring to the room I will do my best to hold space for you to explore it all.

I work with a wide range of clients from all backgrounds and identify as a queer person (she/they) and have strong experience working within the LGBTQIA+ community, really understanding what it is like to feel othered within society. This is not where my experience only lies as I also work with grief, anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, amongst a wider range of experience, but I welcome enquiries from all.

In working with me I will look to encourage you to be present, consider how your past experiences have influenced and impacted you, but also consider how to move beyond them as an identity and rather as a part of you.

Psychosynthesis is a creative model that allows for guided visualisations and drawing to really work with the here and now should clients be open to this. The key thing is that I work relationally and so this means that our work has meaning and I take great care to ensure you will feel safe and heard when we work together whilst maintaining a place of no judgment. I also understand that the last two and a half years may feel like you have lost time, you might be scared about being out in the world, or fed up with covid altogether. I welcome all thoughts and feelings on this topic and many more.

All our work is confidential of course and I adhere to the BACP Ethical Guidelines. If you would like more information please do get in touch!

I work from City Road on a Monday afternoon/evening and a Wednesday morning – for other availability please email me.
