Hello, I am Sabbir. We all face moments in life which can be challenging. At the heart of my practice, I prioritise building a warm, trusting and non-judgemental relationship as a strong foundation to feel safe and to explore in-depth most difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences. Working together, I believe therapy can help foster a better understanding of emotions and self-awareness, which can bring about new possibilities and a new outlook in life. Therapy can also help to develop healthier strategies, to cope with new challenges and past experiences.
I am a psychotherapist (UKCP) and a clinical supervisor. Currently, I work in the NHS as a clinician and clinical supervisor, in addition to private practice.
Psychotherapy with Sabbir
I want to tell you a bit more about myself, as I realise selecting a therapist can be a difficult decision! I feel very privileged to be able to say that I love what I do and always have. I started working with underprivileged children at World Vision (an international charity) in 1998. Following this, I have had experience working with a wide range of clients from various backgrounds which includes children, young people, young offenders, adults, couples, families, individuals with learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental conditions.
After completing my BA(Hons) in Education, I have completed various postgraduate degrees in mental health, including an MA in Psychotherapy. As a psychotherapist, I believe that I can have all the degrees in the field of mental health, but if I cannot build a trusting relationship with my clients, it has no meaning! Therefore, I always aim at providing a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space to my clients in order that I can adopt a collaborative approach when I work with my clients.
As an experienced psychotherapist, I offer a personally tailored approach, drawing upon therapies such as psychoanalytic/psychodynamic psychotherapy, systemic/family therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy. This broad range of training enables me to offer an integrative approach to my clients, and it helps me to tailor my interventions according to the individual clients’ needs. In my work with my clients, I listen to my clients’ problems/concerns carefully from their perspectives to find out what is causing the difficulties and then help with possible solutions. I also suggest strategies for resolving problems and teach specific skills to help my clients to manage their difficulties more effectively.
Work aside, I am a gardener, and father of two children, one of who has special needs. I love nature and I sometimes go on retreats.
