Sarah Tyerman

Stuck in an unhelpful pattern? Curious about how you identify and where you belong? As a psychodynamic therapist, I provide a safe space where we can work together on changing the pattern and finding a new direction for you.

I am an experienced psychotherapist and group analyst who is an empathic listener. I provide a safe space where we can work together to explore your thoughts, feelings and actions.

Psychodynamic therapy for individuals and couples with Sarah

I draw on both a psychodynamic and attachment-based training to identify patterns of behaviour that make you feel stuck. By working together in a professional but personal relationship, I can help you discover how such patterns are still active and causing conflict in adult relationships. As you get to know yourself better, you can work on how to make adjustments to bring about change. These may take the form of new or improved relationship, a confirmation of sexual identity, life goals, an acceptance of loss. Or it may help you make a major transition in your life, like leaving home, becoming a partner or parent, retiring or changing work, ageing.

For couples therapy, I will work with you and your partner to identify what is causing difficulties in your relationship, how you understand what the blocks on easy communication are and what you want to achieve together.

You may be facing a pressing change in your life with which you want immediate help. I offer a 16-week treatment model (Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy) which focuses on this immediate issue.

I have a particular interest and expertise in gender identity and sexual orientation and welcome clients who want to explore their feelings in these areas.
