City Road Therapy – Professional face-to-face & online Therapy in London

Stephen Phillips

We all have an inner critic which wants to point out all our faults. Listening to this inner critic can make us feel negative, and sometimes hopeless.  Working together I will help you to manage your anxiety, worry and depression, and any other difficult feelings.  I will also help you to be curious and understand any behaviours which are causing you issues, as we work towards creating a healthier, more harmonious internal system.

Integrative therapy with Stephen

I believe that the relationship between the client and the therapist is crucial to the success of therapy.  I am a fully qualified, experienced and BACP registered therapist.  I also tutor students who are at the beginning of their journey to become qualified counsellors, at a college in Central London.

I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgemental, and confidential setting; a space where we can fully determine what is really going on beneath your defences; defences which may have protected you in the past but may be impeding you today.

People suffer from a wide range of psychological distress, which is caused by many different things. As an experienced, qualified, integrative therapist, I am inspired by a variety of psychodynamic and humanistic approaches.

Therapy is about gaining insight and knowledge. It is also about learning how we have had to adapt to our environment, and how these adaptations may not be serving us well today. I will work with whatever you bring, and together we will develop the awareness and capacity needed to enable change. I offer both short- and long-term counselling.

Qualifications and trainings

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Therapy (a BACP accredited qualification) from CPPD Counselling School.

Besides working in private practice, I currently teach trainee counselling students at a college in central London.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and I practise in accordance with their ethical framework.

I have worked in a variety of settings, including three years at a hospice, working with bereaved family members and friends.
